I love this time of year. When the leaves are changing and the air is crisp, I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. Autumn in Rochester is the absolute best. One of our family's (along with most other families around here) favorite ways to celebrate the season is apple picking. It's an affordable way to bring some apples home and it's a wonderful way to hang out together as a family.
So, this past weekend we went apple picking, well, minus the picking part. It turns out that our warm spring may have been fun for us, but it had a disastrous impact on local apple crops. That didn't stop us from visiting The Apple Farm in Victor, New York though and having a lot of family fun (and sibling bickering) for under $15.
We had a wonderful fall family outing. First, we took a wagon ride (the boys fought about who got to sit next to their dad).
|The view from the wagon...amazing!|
Then, we took a beautiful walk through the orchards (the boys raced to see who was the fastest).
We bought some apples (a half-peck for less than $5).
|What's your favorite kind?|
And, finally, we ate some yummy baked goods (4 donuts and 2 ciders for $5.50) (the boys argued about who had the biggest donut).
It turns out that apple picking without the picking part is still really fun and affordable (less than $12 and the sibling rivalry was free).
What did you do this weekend?
Mrs. Kelly Comment: That view from the wagon is beautiful! You're right. The fall in upstate New York is simply gorgeous. Now let's talk cider and donuts. Homemade cider donuts? Mmm. Also, that cider that your son is drinking is almost bigger than he is! When I see this picture I think, "LAID back..sippin' on cider and juice...with my mind on my donuts and my donuts on my mind." Life is good! Makes me want to go apple picking without the picking.
Mrs. Gosling comment: Girl, you straight trippin' with your Snoop Doggy Dogg. LOVE IT! Mrs. W: Your pictures are BANANAS! Seriously! Love the scenery and it looked like a FAB day with your men. So, is your next post going to be on how to make homemade donuts, mulled cider and deliver them to your Blog Sistas .... for under $10? Sounds good. Hang them from the front door so the squirrels don't get them.
