Passing Notes Today: Mrs. Kelly
We changed up our front door and I wanted to share our little makeover with you.
Here's what our front door used to like. It was fine but it was dark and made me think of the 80's. I wanted something a little lighter and fun. So I started obsessing over doors. I think it started when I was in Brooklyn Heights this summer and admiring all the fun doors. After all, it's the first thing that greets you when you enter someone's home and it makes a statement. Brown and white was making a boring statement.
Enter Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue. I love this color. It's fun but not too crazy. It also helped achieve the light feeling I was going for. We used to have brass door fixtures so I sprayed those with oil rubbed bronze spraypaint. I'm not sure how long it will last but I figured it was easier than buying a new set.
Check out my new door knocker. It's Mrs. Powers...a Mackenzie Childs barn sale find from my mom. Gotta have some whimsy in my entryway, right? Isn't that a decorating rule? No?
I even like how the new color looks with the existing rug!
No more brown mud door. From now on it's just wythe blue skies smiling at me!
Note from Mrs. Williams: Your new doors look so friendly and bright. I just might need to check them out in person. You like unexpected visitors, right?
