Passing Notes Today: Mrs. Williams
Hey Mrs. Gosling and Mrs. Kelly,
The other day I was sitting in my house and staring at this.
These are the cabinets beneath our television. Notice the gold hinges and the black knobs? I am not exaggerating when I write that I have stared at that mismatched knob/hinge situation every day for FOUR years. You see, four years ago when we moved into our current house the built-ins looked like this (and we still bought the place :).
Then, four years went by, and we never changed out the hinges. That's why I stare at them all the time. They've been taunting me..."Look at us, we don't match!" I'm not even a matchy person - I don't care if my purse matches my shoes, my boys are never in matching socks, hey, my shirt rarely matches my pants. But, for some reason, I couldn't stand that my knobs and hinges didn't match.
Until...I had a stroke of genius (yes, four years later). Why not change out the knobs to match the hinges? (You thought of that idea about four paragraphs ago, huh? Show offs.) So, with my revelation, I headed to Anthropologie. Since, knobs are basically all I can afford in that store, I knew right where the display was and got searching for some knobs with gold in them.
I found these. Colorful and golden. Perfect.
My little guy helped me put them in.
And now...drum roll...the hinges and knobs match.
And, just for fun:
|Wall Paint Color is BM Monroe Bisque and Trim is Sherwin Williams Alabaster White|
And there you have it...how in four minutes I solved a problem that had been plaguing me for four years. Thanks Anthropologie.
Sometimes it's the little things,
Note from Mrs. Gosling: I'm so jealous that you went to Anthropologie and actually bought something. Next time you go, can you pick me up some new coffee mugs and a Summer Maxi dress (black and white chevron) that I have been eyeing? I really like the knobs and I think that they will be perfect with your new HG lamps, what!?!
PS - Your style is rockin, who you kidding!
Note from Mrs. Kelly: I'm glad you will be able to sleep at night now. ;) That before and after is ridiculous. Love!
