A Perfect Pick

Passing Notes Today:  Mrs. Williams

Dear Girls,

It's red, white and blue week here at Naptime Notebook, so I thought I'd share some pics of the picks we had last June.  Oh, and there's a whole lotta red!

So, I'll begin by posing this question to you:  What do you get when you combine a tractor, a cardboard container, and plastic spoons?  A perfect evening of course!  Last year, we set out to go strawberry picking after lunch.  However, after a quick hours-check online, it turned out that our favorite fruit farm (Chase's) closes down at noon and reopens at 6pm.  So, we decided to go strawberry picking after DINNER.  It was a beautiful night!  With the evening sun in the sky and a wonderful summer breeze in the air, it made me wonder why we picked berries in the blazing heat all those other years.

After we picked up the cardboard tray at the fruit stand we loaded onto the tractor to head out to the strawberry fields.

We don't pick a lot of berries.  Let's face it, we're kind of there for the tractor ride.

Our tractor driver recommended the sugar snap peas.  So, we picked some of those too.  He was right, they were delicious.

Then, we hopped back onto that tractor to head to the parking lot.

Once we got off, we looked longingly back at those fields of fruit, and then, no joke, we hopped back onto the tractor.  It was too beautiful to leave.  So, we decided to pick some raspberries (more red).

Don't tell, but we tend to eat a lot of berries while we pick.

Finally, after we soaked up all the evening sun and beauty, and just when I thought it couldn't get any better, it did.

Oh my god - it was so good.  We were supposed to be sharing, but I may have gotten some elbows in there to fend off my boys and husband.

There you have it, cardboard containers, tractors, and plastic spoons...the recipe for delicious family fun.  I can't wait to go out some evening this year!

Strawberry fields forever,

Note from Mrs. Gosling:  Aw .. please let me be one of your children for a day.  I love berries and tractors and sundaes and sunsets and CHAI's and Ryan Gosling and ..... What a fun night for you!  I have never been to Chase's for berry picking (but I do always go for pumpkin picking).  I think that I need to add a spring visit in!  Thanks for sharing!
