DISCLAIMER: If you are my husband, stop reading!
Father's Day is coming up and I wanted to share a gift idea. Last year, instead of giving my husband another golf shirt (which he still would have liked) we decided to be a little more fun with our gifting approach. There are three children in this household and sometimes it's hard to have individual time with each of them. We decided we'd come up with dates that my husband could go on with each one. And guess what? It was a hit for both dad and child! Score!
My son went on a paddle boat ride around Irondequoit Bay (thanks Groupon).

This year we are carrying on our tradition. I printed an oversized (manly)tag that reads "one-on-ones with our No.1." Then I made up tickets in Word to describe each date. I grabbed some other things I wanted to put in our jar like hershey kisses and a couple gift cards.
Here is the plan this year:
- My husband and my oldest son will visit the Planetarium and then grab lunch at the new East Avenue Wegmans.
- My husband and my daughter will go to a local middle school production of The Little Mermaid and then find a new place for dessert.
- My husband and baby boy will spend a morning at Barnes and Noble where they will enjoy coffee, milk, pastries, a train table and lots of, well, books..
I put the tickets, gift cards and hershey kisses in a ball jar and then bedazzled it dad-style with twine and duct tape and a tag. You could also add golf tees or nails as filler.

I think my husband will love his one-on-one outings. It's a fun, thoughtful gift. And if you're on a budget, the outings don't have to cost anything (hello geocaching, library, Powers Market, public market). Michelle Duggar, you better get planning. Time's a ticking.
I'll keep you posted on his reaction.
Happy Father's Day to all dads! You're number one!
Note from Mrs. Gosling: What a great, sweet and memory packed gift. My hubby is jealous (he's still not getting a new grill) but now he is thinking of stealing your idea. Thanks for sharing!
Note from Mrs. Williams: such a great and priceless idea!
