Marble Maze

Passing Notes Today:  Mrs. Williams

Hi Mrs. G. and Mrs. K.,

In a couple of weeks our family is hopping in the car and heading to a family reunion in Ohio.  The final destination will be worth it, but eight hours in the car with two energetic boys...not my idea of a good time.  I passed a note awhile ago about a Travel Tub filled with activities for journeys like this.  Today, I thought I'd share details about the marble mazes that I made to include in the Travel Tub and hopefully (fingers crossed) entertain my boys during a few of the 400+ miles of the trip.

I cut the parchment paper into squares and drew out a maze with a ruler.

After sewing the right sides of the fabric together and turning it right side out , I pinned the parchment paper onto the fabric and stitched on the lines to create the maze.  (After I was done stitching, I just ripped off the paper.)

Last step...insert a marble (or two) and stitch the marble hole closed.

Three marble mazes stitched and ready for a car ride (or restaurant or waiting room or grocery store).

Here's the marble maze in action...wish I had my son's face in this pic so you could see his look of concentration as he moved the marble through the maze.

The mazes really were a quick project.  I hopeful that they'll come in handy en route to Ohio, if not, there's always a family sing along :).

Reunion or bust,

Note from Mrs. Kelly:  You a-MAZE me.  Here I thought I was doing well because I packed books for the kids and you go and make these sweet marble mazes.  I'm obsessed with the bike fabric.  Also, where have these been all my life?!?  Thanks for sharing.
